“I Got Called Out” – A Weird (But Personal) Video Confession

I have a confession to make…

It’s not an easy thing to admit, but I basically have no choice at this point. And frankly I could use your support. So here goes…

The Last 4 Days of My Life…

…have been monumental for me in so many ways.

I’ve just returned (late last night) from the ridiculously gorgeous lake region of Maine, where I’ve been locked in a lake house, steeped in masterminding with about a dozen of the coolest people on the planet — an impressive gathering of industry/thought leaders with whom I’m honored to be associated…and many of whom you’d likely recognize (Jack Sternberg, Peter Conti, David Alexander, Joe Kaiser, Ken Wade, Tim Randle, Sam Bell, just to name a few).

Side Note: I’m actually in two strong masterminds right now.  If you’re not already connected with your own trusted mastermind group, please do whatever you can to make it a priority.  This should absolutely be one of your core values.  And if you’re in any way unclear on the purpose or power of the mastermind concept, go read Think and Grow Rich again.

As any authentic mastermind will, these good people offered me motivation, clarity and did their very best to sharpen me.  But they also relentlessly called me out on some stuff.  And frankly some of it made me kinda mad at first, as I felt more than a little defensive.  But in my heart I knew they were right.  And the bottom-line result for me has been exceptionally motivating and clarifying.

But as part of this, I’ve been challenged in no uncertain terms to publicly admit that…

I’ve Been Holding Out On You…

Please know that my intentions have been pure. But the simple fact of the matter is, I’ve been holding something back from you for the last 6 months or so, and now I have to come clean…

So I have a personal favor to ask: Would you please watch this odd, little 2-minute video I made for you, and then let me know what you think? I could really use a little friendly support.

But one friendly caution: I started out shooting this video for you, but it was quickly hijacked as you’ll see.  I wasn’t really in control of the end result.  So I apologize a little in advance for the “french” you’ll probably hear. But anyone who knows him will testify that the enigma that is David Alexander simply cannot be contained… 🙂

After You Watch…

Truth be told, I could really use your support and feedback. And I also need you to help hold me accountable to the commitment I just made.

Look, I realize some parts of this may seem a little cryptic. But there’s a reason…this isn’t about “information” at this point. This merely begins my “coming clean” process, and it’s really about…

  • Accountability…doing what I committed to do…
  • Making a public declaration I now have to keep…
  • And no longer allowing my own inner demons to stop me from serving you the very best of what I have to offer you…

I’ll have more to share with you on this soon. But for now, I’d really love hearing what you think below please

Thanks so much in advance, guys…

About

JP Moses is a roughly-hewn man-child who first got into REI after reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad back in Y2K and went full time in 2002. He's tinkered in everything from landlording to short sales to rehabs to Realtoring to REOs to notes to owner financing, blah, blah, blah...Till he finally stuck his flag deep into wholesaling and has since flipped somewhere north of a couple hundred deals.

JP's not a “guru” but also doesn't think it's a bad word. Among his core values are authenticity, creativity, big honkin' value, general fun-ness and being unshaven. He's super proud to be chief blogger guy at REItips.com and host of the free REIology podcast. He also thoroughly enjoys sharing his 53 best real estate investing forms with anyone who wants them. You should totally check that out. :-)

  • While we have no idea what you’re referring to JP, I do commend you for having a deadline…a launch date….and committing to it. Looking forward to seeing what REIology (spelling?) is all about. Don’t get thrown in a lake by David Alexander…not a good look, bud. 😉

I say throw JP in the lake now! But then throw him in again if he doesn’t follow through with his deadline. Hey JP, how about you give me a sneak peak at what you got behind the curtain and I’ll let ou know if it’s good enough to let out? 😀

  • Joshua Small

I’m beyond intrigued. If you’re going to spill the beans spill all of them, not just one. I need all of your beans. By the way, this is the 111th video I’ve seen you wear that shirt in.

  • Just do it. 🙂

  • Thomas

Oh geez….yet another product launch!! Do we really need yet ANOTHER real estate investing program? Did you mastermind group do a product review for you? Get the JV partners ready it’s John Paul Moses’ turn for a real estate product, Affiliate Marketing in it’s truest form. Cut the drama….with all this bul$%#* about I’ve been holding out. Lets see how well you create the buzz, the scarcity…etc….

  • Tickenoff

Hi JP… Well, I’m not quite sure what it was you were trying to get across, other than not getting thrown into the lake, because of not making yourself accountable to follow through on a something that has been revolving around in your head for the past several months, but whatever it is, and if it is of the Lord, He will direct your steps. As the Good Book says, “With the mind man plans his way, but it is the Lord who directs his steps…” So just go for it, because the worst that can happen is the Lord changes your direction. Go get em JP….. Paul T (Fountain Valley, CA)

    Hey JP,

I actually presume to sense what you’re up to. You gave me simple advice in the past – to “focus like a laser.’ The wisdom that underlies that advice is precious beyond measure.

Please permit me to reciprocate. You are having birthing pains. That is apparent. Treat your project idea as a ‘life’ that has opportunity to continuously improve over its lifetime. If the idea resides in your mind, there is little doubt that you are capable of delivering it – and that you are the right person to do so.

Treat your idea and its recipients with the ‘love’ that you have always shown and you will have created no inherent reason for anything other than a warm reception to it. Courage does not exist in the absence of fear. Fear must be present . . . and apparently you will be exposed. Just trust in the rapport that you have developed with your followers and filter your intentions through a lens of ‘purity.’ Should they pass muster I can see no reason not to proceed.

    Good luck.

    JP,
My realestate investing has gone through fits, almost starts, steps back, and stalls. It’s been an incredibly slow processes for me so I can understand where you’re coming from. That being said, you are far more proactive than I’ve ever been! I have been inspired by you to move on things in the past and look forward to that inspiration by the last Tuesday in September….

  • Hughhill20

Hi JP, not sure what the point of this video was. But, I would love for my boy David to throw you in the lake. That would be worth the price of admission there.

  • JP

I have to laugh….I was thinking the same as Joshua…give that shirt a rest! Dig back a little father in the closet, there must be something else. 🙂 Anyway, if the idea has you this nervous then their must be some serious merit to it. You wouldn’t be so weird about it if you weren’t putting your reputation on the line, which means this is from you and not someone else’s brainchild. Also, if David likes it then it has to be way different than anything that currently exists. Get’ er done!

  • wow! when you get er done….do you get to throw David in the Lake? …

I kinda would like to see David throwing you….naw….you can’t let David throw you

  • Jared

Ok JP, honest opinion returned. I have read Think and Grow Rich (about 6 times) and think it’s great that you have been able to network with some successful individuals to become your mastermind group!! I am not sure if your doing a product launch as some others have stated here but if you are–good luck!! If you feel you have done enough creative deals and have some insider info up your sleeve that is very benificial and you can help others then you must have earned it!! I think it’s great your are being held accountable b/c its part of the growth process!! If your reputation is on the line then make sure its worth it!! You have been very well know to this point for providing a lot of free helpful info so if your gonna do a product etc then make it a NO HOLDS BAR on investing with nothing left out for a very minimal cost. We all do get tired of the hype bologna $25K worth of stuff for $997 webinars!!! I think you can do better than that!! Just give it away JP and it will return 10 fold!! Press forward, think and grow rich, and follow your own path where it leads you!! Good luck JP!!

  • Yeah, thanks for the support, dude. Why are you here again?

  • Ha ha – that’s funny. I do like that shirt. I have like 4 shirts that are my favorites and I just keep rotating them. You caught me!

  • The wisest of words, Paul. Thank you, my friend.

  • Alan VandeBerg

J.P., I believe in you! Anything God has laid on your heart, He will equip and enable you to do! Something big is coming your way! You can do it! Expect a miracle!
    Your friend,
    Alan

  • Js2008nup

What kind of camera did you use to create this video super clean video quality!!!

  • Gene K.

JP, Congrats for putting this up… and most importantly for solidifying your commitment. I know this video is not exactly “format” for you, but then again most of it was outside of your control 😉 And for those you anticipating the “details” of what’s to come… all I can say is that “it’s going to be worth the wait”

Thanks for the experience, man. Maine Rocked!

    P.S. – Great site… love it!

  • Kelly Miller

JP, Do what you like. Wear what you like. I’m sure it will be great. It’s all going to go the way it’s supposed to go. Thank you for all you have given me so far. Hugs to you!! Relax, it’s going to be fine! 🙂

  • Gene K.

Thomas, I think your time would probably better spent learning from REI programs, as opposed to bad-mouthing them and their authors. Get it together, junior… this is not a good look for you.

  • Kodak Zi8. It’s under $200 bucks. Best choice for low-end HD for sure. 🙂

Great HD video. I am a new reader. I support you, but you don’t need support. You get what you put into the Universe. Put your best into this, and we will get your best. Can anyone ask for more than your best, besides you? Besides, we will only get out of your efforts what we put in, so your best, or our best. All the best.
