Remember that “Open Letter to All the Gurus We’ve Ever Loved Before blog post?.  Judging by the gaggle of comments — well over a hundred and going strong — to say “I struck a nerve” would be a gross understatement.

So now I got this crazy idea to take it to the next level.  Let’s crowdsource this puppy, pay it forward together and start naming some specific names, shall we?

But hold on there, partner…Before you cut loose with those choice superlatives, I might not mean quite what you’re thinking. So…

No guru bashing allowed. Remember this is about who you recommend, not who you don’t. I don’t need the negativity and neither do you.

2) First-hand experience only…
Please only recommend folks with whom you’ve had some kind of actual positive experience…you’ve invested in and gone through their training at some level, and can actually offer a real-world endorsement.

3) Be specific…
About who you recommend, what kind of experience you’ve had with them, and why you personally endorse them.

A Brilliant Marketer for Sure…

As with any course/system/event Preston releases, this one’s being marketed brilliantly.  No one can question, this guy knows how to promote.  He fully embraces controversy (which sells well, btw) and is clearly not afraid to polarize an audience, either for or against him.  Again, brilliant posturing…even his “haters” just give him more press.

But truth be told, I’ve known Preston for around 4 years now.  I’m neither a “groupie” nor a “hater”.  I consider him a friend…but we don’t really “hang”, if that makes sense.

We first met when he approached me back in the day about writing articles for FlippingHomes.com and promoting his $50 wholesaling e-book.  That never happened b/c it conflicted with Steve’s stuff, but we actually did end up joint venturing a Saturday workshop together on Probate deals – one that he eventually turned into the core content for his eventual probate course.

One Thing I’ve Learned About Preston…

…is this: Love him or hate him, he’s undeniably successful…both in his real estate endeavors and in his online marketing ventures. (Not so much in his love life…but anyway…)

You may or may not like his personal style, his rock star persona, the frequency of his email marketing, or his Texas sized ego…but set all that aside for a second and take a good, hard look at the real guy and the stuff he’s made of…and you’ll see there’s a heck of a lot you can learn from.

Preston seems somehow consistently able to accomplish what most only imagine.  And he usually does it lightning fast, while everyone else is still wondering if it can/should be done.  I’ve always admired this about him… And frankly need to be a lot more like him in that way.

Does He Always Win?

No, of course not.  But when he does win, he tends to WIN BIG.  And when he doesn’t win, he still wins because he’s learned how to extract every bit of value he can from each and every “loss”.

It’s more than just positive thinking…more than just the law of attraction…or persistence…or hard work…or luck…

This is a guy who’s figured out how to grab life by the tail and make it squeal about any way he wants.

Said another way, whether you like the flavor of what Preston cooks up or not, it’s simply undeniable that he’s  a very, very exceptional “chef” of his own life – and I mean that in a holistic sense (health, financial, spiritual, and relational).

This is exactly where the Red Pill comes from.  And when you take it from this perspective I’ll tell you…Well, I’ve been very, very impress so far.

Is This Right For Everyone?

Nah, of course not.  No product or service is right for everyone.

But I’ll tell you that my honest assessment is that, for me, it totally kicks butt.  I’ve already changed my daily routine because of it and have experienced some positive results to show for it. I love the affirmations…but this is really so much more than just positive self-talk…and I’m looking thoroughly forward to finishing it all the way through.

If you’re considering investing your hard-earned education dollars in The Red Pill (or anything else for that matter), my best advice is to take-in everything you can about it in processing through your decision.  It’s called “due diligence” and it’s just good common sense.

Reading this review was a great start.  Also, if it’s still available, here’s the free module he’s giving away, along with the  “affirmations” I like a lot. You should take them in as well…

See for yourself if his perspective truly resonates with you or not.  It does for me…and again…that’s coming from someone who does NOT automatically endorse all-things Preston Ely.  But what about you? Only you can judge that.

This is a 3-FULL DAY EVENT: Thursday March 25 – Saturday March 27, 2010.

• Average rehab consists of over $12,000 in tile and granite alone

• Active in 5 markets currently, looking to expand to more

• Average profits ranges from $50,000 – $170,000 a month (that’s my split)

• Typical work day consists of 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, with 6-12 weeks of vacation

What I’ll be Covering and You’ll be Learning

• 1 day of “classroom” stuff and 2 days of continued practice/training on estimating repairs

• Detailed training of each trade (i.e. roofs, windows, drywall, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, flooring (tile, carpet, wood floors), mold remediation, demolition etc.

• Contractor communication (this one bites everyone it seems – but I’ve got it down to a science)

• How to find ideal contractors (My ways can be a little unorthodox, but they work. Period.)

• Development of management skills (This is crucial, but easier than you think)

• Handling of permits, municipalities

• Lien waivers (Ever thought of this one?)

• Handling payments, draw schedules (Get this one down, or get scammed. Your choice.)

• How to utilize market experts to do your scope of work and manage your contractors for FREE (Hardly anyone really understands how I do this or why, but when you do, it’ll blow your mind – how else do you think I get so much done with so much time off?)

This is not anything and everything about how to flip a house, A to Z.

The hotel is 2 miles away from the airport and you can catch a shuttle but I’d recommend a cab for a couple bucks.

There a too many varying circumstances to predict exactly what I will be doing after the end of each day. However, if I am around and am going to dinner etc, I will try to invite you/give everybody a heads up.

OK, guys.  So the tsunami of emails in my inbox (heh…yours too?) makes it all too apparent that a new real estate product launch has hit and hit hard.  But pre-written sales copy and “canned” webinars aside, there’s one glaring question that needs to be answered…

When you take a good, hard look — past all the hypey headlines, the fancy videos and even Preston’s larger-than-life personality and his mullet (Seriously…am I the only one who sees this?) — The glaring question still remains…

Does FreedomSoft Really Stand Up On It’s Own?

Well I’ve had a little exposure to it personally – yes, in advance of most people. I got to tinker around under the hood since I own this here fancy REI Tips website.

But let me say, more than a few have noticed that, amid the promotion barrage, I’ve been strangely silent. I sent out a couple of early emails before the frenzy really got going.  But yes, I’ve largely taken a back seat on this intentionally up to now.  And the reason why is explained pretty well in the video above.  But basically I’m starting to rethink the whole “everyone emails about everything all at once” thing.

Now about the software, I’ll be honest…I already figured it would be pretty well done. After all, the guy behind the actual software development (No, not Preston or Pete — another guy who’s waaaaay behind the scenes) — this guy’s like a brother to me, and known for being a thousand percent committed to exceptional quality in every project I’ve ever seen him tackle.

So I had high expectations already. And I must admit I was quite impressed. But what I didn’t expect was how much they were building into it – in terms of the list of features.  Apparently they took their “all-in-one real estate investing solution” idea a lot more seriously than I gave them credit initially.

Update 2: They’ve also added a gaggle of shiny, new features to the “Reloaded” version, which I’ve highlighted in brief below for you…

A Few Strong, Personal Cautions…

First, before you move too fast, please realize what FreedomSoft really is — it’s software.  Now yes, they’re throwing in a bunch of other stuff — and some of it pretty darn alluring for sure.  But at it’s very core, this is a business tool — a powerful one, yes — but it’s not an actual business. Please be careful not to confuse the two.

And don’t make the classic “bright shiny object syndrome” mistake of letting all the marketing and hype surrounding this convince you it’ll run your whole 7-figure real estate operation while you chillax on a Hawaiian beach.

With all that this fancy software can apparently do, it can and will powerfully multiply your REI business efforts when and if you actually apply it…BUT …if your business is still sitting at zero, friend…well, zero multiplied by anything is still zero, isn’t it?

So for starters, you need an actual real estate business for FreedomSoft to do you any good, OK?

Having said that, I’ll say this: As a business power tool for serious real estate investors, I’ve honestly never seen FreedomSoft’s match. There is one software product out there that could be considered comparable in many respects (Open Road) but they’re also different in a number of ways…and even the mastermind behind that software is promoting FreedomSoft right now.  Which says something I think.

A Few Unanswered Questions…

Here are a few questions I don’t know answers to…but that deserve mention…

• For their comps…where do they get the data?
• Buyer/seller/landlord leads on demand…again, where are the leads sourced from?
• Can you import your own contracts, forms and letters into the big, fancy forms editor thingy?  Or are you limited to only what they have in there?

• It actually unveils the precise step-by-step of how to amplify your REI endeavors/profits through syndication — a concept typically tinkered with in the commercial arena before now.
• It’s a great deal and well worth checking out.

Now, let’s be crystal clear on something…

This is NOT going to be right for everyone.

Since we don’t need hype or fluff, let’s be straight-forward about the fact that, while this is an exceptional REI Cash Map for today’s market, it’s not the only one that works or anything like that.  There’s no sense in insulting people’s intelligence like that.
